Carbone 4 and IF Initiative are co-organizing a trans-disciplinary workshop at the École de Physique des Houches on decision-making tools in the Anthropocene
From June 24 to 28, 2024, Carbone 4 and its co-organizers - the CEA, CEA-i-Tésé, emlyon business school and The Shift Project - brought together nearly 70 researchers, doctoral students and international practitioners working on decision-making tools for the Anthropocene strategy at theÉcole de Physique des Houches for an original workshop on decision-making in the Anthropocene.
The workshop, entitled From Modeling to Strategic Decision-Making Facing Planetary Boundaries: Issues and Challenges of a Multi-Disciplinary Approach, allowed participants from different communities - economy, earth sciences, engineering, earth sciences, engineering, geopolitics, management sciences, sociology or design - to explore together decision-making tools and methods such as models, prospective scenarios and strategic frameworks.
Several members of the IF Initiative team presented their work and led workshops. Caroline Nowacki, who heads the IF initiative scenarios division, presented the first generation of IF Initiative scenarios. Simon Chazel, Head of the modeling division, presented a poster presenting the modeling approach adopted, entitled A biophysical accountability model behind IF Initiative scenarios. Pierre-Baptiste Goutagny, Senior Development Manager and CIFRE doctoral student at Lyon 3, co-hosted a collaborative Lego Serious Play workshop, allowing participants to embody the executive committee of a fictional company and to project themselves to 2060 in a prospective scenario to explore the transformations at work within the business environment, the corporate sector and beyond.
