IF Initiative takes stock of progress at a C3D meeting

IF Initiative presented the progress of its work and its approach at a meeting organized by the College of Sustainable Development Directors (C3D) September 25, 2024. The purpose of the event was to discuss the strategic challenges that businesses face in the face of environmental upheavals and the growing uncertainty that characterizes the Anthropocene.
Léo Sexer, Designer at IF Initiative, started by presenting the why of project YEW. Business strategies, global boundaries and uncertain futures: How do you get back in control? Why project yourself into the Anthropocene and confront planetary limits?

Caroline Nowacki, Manager at IF Initiative and head of the scenarios division, then presented the Methodological framework for Anthropocene strategy by IF Initiative and presented the four scenarios. This framework aims to equip companies and, more generally, economic actors to:
- Build strategies that are robust, resilient and able to withstand uncertainties
- Conduct strategic dialogues with their partners and stakeholders
The presentation of a concrete case illustrated how IF initiative scenarios can help inform strategic decision-making, and thus build more resilient models.

The meeting continued with a round table bringing together three representatives of member organizations - of IF Initiative:
- Marc Irubetagoyena, Head of the BNP Paribas planning and stress-test platform manager
- Michael Haddad, Director of Innovation and Partnerships at Alstom and
- Augustin Wirz, Strategy Director at Danone.
They shared their visions and challenges on the use of scenarios and the concrete benefits they derive from their participation.
The round table was moderated by Thomas Gauthier, professor at emlyon Business School and co-pilot with IF Initiative ofthe Chair Emlyon Business School-Carbon 4 “Anthropocene Strategy”.
